Terrence H. Robertson Owner/Funeral Director

Terrence H. Robertson began his funeral career in 1992 as an apprentice of Funeral Service. In 1994, he graduated from Gupton Jones College of Funeral Service in Decatur, GA where he achieved National Board Certification. Shortly thereafter, he became a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer in South Carolina. In 1995, he completed his undergraduate studies from the University of South Carolina and received a Bachelor of Science Degree with major emphasis in Business Administration and minor in Psychology.

In 1999, he began his funeral service career in Charlotte and attained his Funeral Service License in the state of North Carolina. In the years that followed, he directed hundreds of funerals and developed an in-depth knowledge of local customs in the Charlotte area. As a continuation to address customer needs as well as the growing trend of discontent with commercialism in the funeral industry, in 2007 Terry founded Robertson Funeral & Cremation Service.

Today, Robertson Funeral & Cremation service provides a highly personalized service to hundreds of families every year in Charlotte and the surrounding areas. Mr. Robertson’s reputation is derived from the thousands of families he has served throughout his career as well as the many churches, ministers, social workers, and others he has had the privilege of working with.

Terry is married to Amanda K. Robertson, who serves as Rector of Church of the Good Shepherd in York, SC.  Together, they have 3 sons; TJ, Townsend and Angus.

Bill Cathey Funeral Director Apprentice

Charlotte is my hometown. I attended Kindergarten at Park Road Baptist Church, then on to Park Road Elementary, where Ms. Nell Bates was one of my favorite teachers. That was a great time of life, riding bikes, playing ball, and going to Carowinds. I got my first job there, when I turned 16 years of age.

I still attend the church I grew up in, Covenant Presbyterian Church. After graduating from Providence Day School in 1981, I went on to Winthrop College in Rock Hill, SC. While at Winthrop, I met my future wife Amy & we were married in 1991. The service was co-officiated by Father Allen of Saint Ann's Catholic Church & the Reverend Frank Mayes of Covenant Presbyterian. We are still at Covenant & have both been active in mission such as Habitat for Humanity (Charlotte & Avery County), Nourish Up, Room in the Inn, and Accion' Ministries in the Yucatan, as well as the Ministry of Faith in Reynosa.

I have been an usher for Covenant for 30 years and am currently on my 2nd round as Chairperson of the Ushers. We have a large group of volunteers serving as ushers, filling-out 18 teams that cover the various services each week & Wednesdays. I met Terry Robertson back around 1999, when I was ushering a funeral at Covenant. Who knew where it would go ? Over the years I kept seeing Terry & Doug Shaw at services. They asked me if I had any plans after I retired from Waterbury Construction & I told them that I didn't really have any firm plans. I have now been with Robertson Funeral & Cremation Service, fulltime, since October, 2024, after helping part-time for a fews years prior.

Helping others is very satisfying & my Dad encouraged me, at an early age, to help him at church & around the yard, and help my Mom around the house, when she would let me. My younger sister & her husband live in Charlotte & are very active at Trinity Presbyterian Church. My older brother is retired & lives in Virginia, after 30 years of service to Norfolk Southern Railway, and my Mom lives at Sharon Towers. Amy's Mom lives at The Carriage Club. I'm lucky that my family is relatively nearby.

It is very gratifying to be on the team at Robertson F&C and I'm very thankful for the opportunity to serve families in the future as a funeral director.
